Nilo Batle

Nilo came up through Bay Area gyms, coached youth teams, and spent years working across the local climbing scene. Through setting comps locally, nationally, and internationally, he has pulled inspiration from some of the best gyms around and brought those ideas back to Nova.

He has a deep love for the Bay Area climbing community. It shaped him not just as a climber but as a person. Nova Boulders is his love letter to that community, built with passion, intention, and a desire to give something back.
His goal is to create climbs that reflect the relationships he has built here. Problems that are thoughtful, distinct, and meant to teach or reveal something for both the climber and the setter.

Whether he is setting for a comp or designing a gym layout, Nilo values clarity, collaboration, and attention to detail, always aiming to create something that feels honest and lasting.

Maggie Yeung

Maggie is born and raised in the mid-peninsula. She has worked many jobs in the climbing industry, from belaying for summer camps and after school programs to coaching and routesetting.

Maggie has seen the climbing industry grow and change over the last decade, and at Nova, she wants to highlight the reasons why she fell in love with climbing in the very beginning. She loves the pure challenge that climbing imposes and the supportive community that comes with it. Her favorite feeling in climbing is unlocking a single move that felt impossible on the first attempt.

At Nova, she’s excited to create a warm and welcoming environment where climbers can be challenged creatively, not just physically.
